Contrast is the ultimate tool for reasoning - as opposed to the camera obscura of viewpoint.
It is only by contrast may we reasonably, rationally consider as well we might, the entirety of the complete picture around us.
The Master practises such scrutiny over days of contemplating questions of depth, of mystery, of the unknown, in such a way.
Contrast is the key element to focus.
Being surprised enlivens the mind: this practice is an exercise that will strengthen the thinking.
Routines throughout the day afford us one type of general wellbeing - that of the etheric routine. Our walking, our heartbeat - all perpetual motion, reinforces our worldly presence with a comfortable accord.
However, surprise - the unexpected - strengthens our spiritual being- it becomes a process of ever awakening out from the thrum of predictive measure. And this in turn shall create conditions of contrast also.
It need not be a big surprise, but rather the unpredicted (and joyous) smaller deviations and revelations from the norm. This assists us with contrasting ourselves from all about us, and resets our thinking most naturally.
